Breathe Easier on Your Next Commute
Bike commuting helps keep the air cleaner- but it also exposes you to less pollution than driving, according to a recent study by researchers at London's Imperial College.

After measuring levels of pollution particles in locations throughout the city, researchers found that motorists were exposed to about 40,000 traffic-produced particles per cubic centimeter, while cyclists, who usually ride on the edge of the road, inhaled just 8,000. Pedestrians on the sidewalk breathed the least- contaminated air, with a particle count of 5,000.
