After measuring levels of pollution particles in locations throughout the city, researchers found that motorists were exposed to about 40,000 traffic-produced particles per cubic centimeter, while cyclists, who usually ride on the edge of the road, inhaled just 8,000. Pedestrians on the sidewalk breathed the least- contaminated air, with a particle count of 5,000. |
