RRTA's Share the Ride Campaign 2006Red Rose Transit Authority will begin the 5th Annual Share the Ride program on Monday, May 1, 2006 to promote alternate modes of transportation as a way to help improve air quality in Lancaster County. RRTA, The Air Quality Partnership of the Susquehanna Valley and Commuter Services of South Central Pennsylvania have been encouraging employers to take the pledge and inform their employees about alternate modes of transportation on Ozone Action Days to help air quality in Lancaster County. Businesses agree to distribute brochures to their employees who can make the individual pledge to take an alternate mode of transportation on Ozone Action Days. They can choose between walking, biking, carpooling, or taking transit to work. Red Rose Transit Authority will provide free ride coupons on Ozone Action Days that will be valid on any RRTA route for employees who pledge to take transit. Businesses who are interested in becoming part of the program can fill out a pledge form and fax (397-4761) or email the form to Jennifer Boley (jboley@redrosetransit.com). Once a business has filled out a pledge form, a Share the Ride Toolkit, Share the Ride brochures and RRTA Ozone Action Day Free Ride Coupons will be sent. The toolkit gives paycheck stuffers, flyers and other related factual information to help communicate the importance of alternate modes of transportation and air quality issues. The Share the Ride campaign was created and is funded by a Congestion Mitigation Air Quality grant to address air quality by promoting alternate modes of transportation. Share the Ride on Ozone Action Day Free Ride Coupons are valid on any forecasted Ozone Action Day. |
